The Powermonitor 3000 consists of a Master Module and an optional Display Module. The compact Master Module comes with a standard RS-485 communication port, and the ability to accept one additional communication option. Communication options installed at the factory include RS-232, RIO, deficient, Ethernet and ControlNet. The Master Module is easily mounted in a standard one space factor Motor Control Center (MCC), eliminating the need for external enclosures. The Display Module is an optional input/output device that can be used to setup and configure the Master Module for operation. The Display Module comes with a highly visible LED display and four tactile operator buttons. Device power and communication between the Display Module and the Master Module are provided through a shielded cable. The display Module is easily mounted into a typical instrument panel analog meter 4" ANSI cutout.

The Powermonitor 3000 is microprocessor-based monitoring and control device designed to work in a variety of applications including:

  • Load Profiling: Use of power parameters and the configurable trend utility allowing electrical loads to be profiled.

  • Demand Management: Understanding of when demand charges occur reducing electrical costs.

  • Cost Allocation: Billing departments for actual energy usage promoting manufacturing efficiency.

  • Distribution Load Shedding: Using power parameters to maintain system stability during a sudden loss of power.

  • Power System Control: Using Power parameters to manage system voltage and power factor.

Perhaps the most important feature of the Powermonitor 3000 is its role in Rockwell Automation Power and Energy Management solutions. The total solution consists of:

  • Allen-Bradley Power Metering Hardware (Powermonitor 3000)

  • Rockwell Software Power Management Software (RSPower32, RSEnergy)

  • Variety of communication Protocols (Ethernet, ControlNet, RIO and DeviceNet)

  • Value-added system integration services.

The net result is a complete energy and automation solution backed by the strength and experience of Rockwell Automation.
